Dear Debian Tcl/Tk'lers!

As announced quite some time ago, I prepared a new Debian package for review and upload (see ITP #766486). NSF/NX/XOTcl2 are the successors of XOTcl.

See https://next-scripting.org/.

The actual initial (non-beta) release of NSF/NX/XOTcl2 is planned for the next couple of days (before or on Oct 26th). To speed up the overall process, I prepared the source package "nsf" with a current SCM snapshot (2.0.0~b6) for review.

Once reviewed and fixed, switching to the then available release sources will be straight forward.

I used git-buildpackage (in a standard layout: debian/sid, upstream, pristine-tar). For the review, I published the source-package repo to

http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/nsf.git/

The packages are lintian clean, I followed the Debian Tcl/Tk policy 0.3.0, and tested the installation of the debs.

I kindly ask for your reviews and the promotion of the package.

That said, do you see any chance of landing before the Jessie deadline? I know, the ITP queues are extensive, but still, I was hoping naive as I am ;)

Best,
Stefan

Description : The Next Scripting Framework (for short: NSF) is an infrastructure for creating object-oriented scripting languages based on Tcl. See http://next-scripting.org/.

The Next Scripting Framework (for short: NSF) is an infrastructure for
creating object-oriented scripting languages based on Tcl. This
package provides two ready-made object-orientated extensions for Tcl
based on NSF: Next Scripting Language (NX, pronounced "next") and
Extended Object Tcl version 2 (XOTcl2, pronounced "exotickle").

NSF and the two languages are direct successors of XOTcl
(http://www.xotcl.org/), which is actively maintained as a Debian
package (jointly with the Debian Tcl/Tk packaging team).

NSF/NX, NSF/XOTcl2 and applications written using them are deployed in
and along with production-grade software systems, such as Learn@WU
(http://learn.wu.ac.at/), OpenACS (http://openacs.org/), and
AOLServer/NaviServer.

I plan to maintain the NSF Debian package inside the Debian Tcl/Tk
packaging team. In this context, I am already responsible for two other
packages. See
