Some more insights:
My openvpn-config file (to be imported into NM) includes the following lines:
dev tun
float
Both options are ignored when importing via gui. When using nmcli, I find
dev=tun
in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/my_openVPN. When using the gui, they
are
missing. Adding theses options to the config generated by the gui makes it work.
