Package: network-manager
Version: 0.6.6-1

Hello,
During today sudo aptitude upgrade (sid box), I got :
....
Preparing to replace network-manager 0.6.5-5 (using
..../network-manager_0.6.6-1_i386.deb) ...
Stopping network connection manager: NetworkManager
....
And then the process is stuck as is most of my X11 environnenment.
Mostly related to the fact that /home is nfs mounted.
A local root account on the console + a bunch of kill, dpkg --configure
-a, aptitude install fixed the situation.

Hi Fabrice,
this problem has been addressed in 0.6.6-1 by restarting NM in postinst,
instead of stopping in prerm and starting in postinst.
This should minimize the downtime (with ethernet it's a matter of
seconds) and make it more robust against failures (such as dpkg prompts
of other packages while you were offline).
See #432322 for the gory details.
It's unfortunately the best that can be done atm, so I'm marking the bug
as fixed in 0.6.6-1
Cheers,
Michael
