Package: network-manager-gnome
Version: 0.7.1-1
Severity: important

Hi,

subject says all, when I quit the nm-applet (for example quiting the
session) the network is shutdown. This behavior wasn't present in previous
nm versions. It's quite annoying and I don't really see the point.

The previous behaviour should be reverted imho.

Cheers,

Hi,

this is a feature, not a bug ;-)

NM 0.7.x has two types of connections: user level and system level connections.
The user level connections are tied to the life time of nm-applet, which is
usually the the user session (nm-applet is started and stopped when the user
session starts/stops).
If you want your connection to persist between different user sessions, you
should use a system connection. This even has the benefit that you don't need to
login to have a connection available.

I'm closing this bug with the explanation given above. If you don't agree, feel
free to reopen the bug.

Michael
