Package: mount

Version:~# apt-cache policy mount
        mount:
          Installiert: 2.17.2-3.1
          Kandidat: 2.17.2-3.1
          Versionstabelle:
          *** 2.17.2-3.1 0
          500 http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ squeeze/main i386
          Packages
          100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
Severity: serious
Justification: Renders package useless

It is impossible to mount any floppy-disk, never mind as normal user or
as root. My System is an actual clean Squeeze i386 with ISO8859-15 and
no backports.
That's in my /etc/fstab:
/dev/fd0 /floppy auto
user,noauto,umask=22,iocharset=iso8859-15 0 0

When I try to mount the floppy, I get an empty prompt as answer, looks
like all is ok. But mount shows only all other mounts, no floppy. No
error message in syslog. When I try to mount without "iocharset" I get
the following error-message in syslog:
Sep 12 18:19:17 rechner kernel: [20841.604663] FAT: utf8 is not a
recommended IO charset for FAT filesystems, filesystem will be case
sensitive!
and the floppy isn't mounted at all.
I have no idea what's going wrong. The same disk works fine with
Windows and on another PC with Lenny, _and_ I can read the directory
from the unmounted disk on the Squeeze-PC with mdir.

I am not the only user with this problem, please take a look at

on debian-user-german.

ciao, Ðirk
