Upstream is aware of the problem (see the address above). If it's really painfull for you, just activate xfwm compositing, or disable composite in xorg.conf, this should fix the problem. In the meanwhile, I'll try the patch linked on the above bug report and see if it speeds up xfce4-terminal.
