Hi, we currently have in our svn a package waiting for upload, notification-daemon-xfce. It's a notification-daemon, without gnome dependenciesm aimed at xfce desktops. Upstream website is there: http://goodies.xfce.org/projects/applications/notification-daemon-xfce.
Currently the packages Conflicts: notification-daemon Provides: notification-daemon so it can be used with any package requiring notification-daemon. I currently use it on Xfce desktop without problem, so I don't think it can break too much thing, but I thought it would be better to have your advice on this before uploading, since it's about a replacement for your package.
