HAL support in Xfce has many other bugs: * the "eject" button on by DVD-RW produces (when a CD is mounted) a cryptic message, instead of unmounting and ejecting the CD: Given device "/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_model_DVDRW_SH_16A7S" is not a volume or drive. See http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2968 * when inserting CDs that contain DivX AVI files with the .vob extension in the VIDEO_TS folder (as commonly sold in Russia), the volume manager apparently misrecognizes them as DVDs and starts (per my configuration) VLC, which mistreats them for audio CDs and plays loud noise that is theoretically able to damage speakers. Not reported upstream yet. So, it may be a good idea to disable HAL support in the future Xfce packages. -- Alexander E.
