Looks like a glib/gio problem:

cor...@hidalgo: file moonlight-1.k3b
moonlight-1.k3b: data
cor...@hidalgo: file -i moonlight-1.k3b
moonlight-1.k3b: application/octet-stream; charset=binary

So it's definitely not a zip file.

cor...@hidalgo: gvfs-info moonlight-1.k3b
display name: moonlight-1.k3b
edit name: moonlight-1.k3b
name: moonlight-1.k3b
type: regular
size:  1128
attributes:
  standard::type: 1
  standard::name: moonlight-1.k3b
  standard::display-name: moonlight-1.k3b
  standard::edit-name: moonlight-1.k3b
  standard::copy-name: moonlight-1.k3b
  standard::icon: application-zip, gnome-mime-application-zip,
package-x-generic, application-x-generic
  standard::content-type: application/zip
  standard::fast-content-type: application/octet-stream
  standard::size: 1128
  standard::allocated-size: 4096

But still, gvfs thinks it's indeed a zip file. As Thunar relies on that,
it “correctly” display it like that.
