I just realise it is technically simple to fix (if you KNOW): When upgrading from XFCE4 4.6 to 4.8 recently with wheezy/sid I was asked if I wanted to start with fresh defaults or keep my settings. I kept my settings because I wasn't in the mood to repeat all the settings. Seemingly the package thunar-volman has changed the location of thunar-volman-settings; now in /usr/bin.
I had assumed that the menu entries in the settings menu of XFCE4 were something like <program-managing-settings> --<topic>. I checked, but it was a simple call to /usr/lib/thunar-volman/thunar-volman-settings. Changing that to /usr/bin/thunar-volman-settings fixed it not only in the direct menu entry, but even when opening Application Menu -> Settings -> Settings Manager window and clicking on the "Removable drives and media" symbol. I guess it should be made sure that this should be fixed for upgrades from 4.6 to 4.8.
