I am unsure whether this is an xfce4.8 bug and, if not, which package is responsible. Please reassign if necessary. My installation is an up-to-date Sid. Inserted USB sticks produce a desktop icon - with one exception. A USB stick which holds a hybrid iso (cat mini.iso > /dev/sdX, say) fails to show such an icon.
