when an xfce4 session is "saved for future logins" and that session
doesn't contain a window manager, the user is presented with a
windowmanager-less environment at the next login, from which he might
not be able to recover without deeper knowledge of the system.
said behavior occurred on a freshly installed debian wheezy system under
normal usage conditions, and could not be reproduced so far. nevertheless,
xfce4-session should be clever enough to detect that an essential part of the
session (xfwm4) is missing, and start a window manager.
as a workaround, i had to remove the xfce4 session from
~/.cache/sessions/, thus losing the list of running applications.
