Hi all,

my name is Mike Gabriel <[email protected]> and I'd like to ask a few questions to the XFCE team.

(If you reply to this mail, please Cc: me as I am not yet subscribed. Thanks.)

As a member of X2Go upstream I am currently implementing several things:

  o a session broker [1] that imitates Canonical's UCCS site [2]
  o a series of patches against Canonical's remote-login-service [3] so that
in addition to RDP and ICA sessions remote-login-service also becomes
able to launch X2Go sessions (i.e. Linux Terminal Server support) [4]
  o a server_type implementation for remote-login-service called
    lightdm-remote-login-x2go [5]
o a PAM module called libpam-x2go, provide PAM information by checking
credentials against an X2Go server (basically wrap around an attempt to
    SSH login for now) [6]

With the above set of tools/patches it becomes possible to use the remote login feature of LightDM as included from Ubuntu quantal on...

  o ... independent from Canonical's UCCS site [2]
o ... for RDP, ICA and _X2Go_ (Linux) sessions

So, these are my questions:

  1. Are there plans to package remote-login-service [3] for Debian?
  2. If not, is the remote login feature in the Debian lightdm package
intact? Did someone think about that part of the code already?
(By looking at [7] my guess is that the remote login code is untouched)
  3. Is the team basically open to my providing remote-login-service and
     related packages within Debian?

Greets+Regards,
Mike
