Actually, xfpm tracks whatever battery presented by upower, which
itselfs picks whatever battery is shown by the kernel (usually in
/sys/class/power/BAT?). So yeah, you can monitor your mouse battery that
way.
I'm unsure if it's possible ignoring it (in case you don't actually want
to track it). You're supposed to be able to hide the icon, but I guess
it might hide /all/ the icons, which might not be what you want.
In any case, “it's not a bug, it's a feature”, so I'm inclined to just
close this.
