I had just filed this bug - https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=741861 - which I believe now to either be related or a duplicate of this bug. I am using systemd with XFCE from Jessie. I am however using version 1.8.7-1, not the 1.8.8-1 in this report.
