Hi, same issue here, with GDM3 and Gnome3.
I followed Laurent's advise and installed systemd-sysv, and I can shutdown my system properly again <- solved. Unfortunately. installing systemd-sysv raised some other issues, like I'm no longer able to start up my openvpn client...
