Applications Menu->Settings->Printing hangs asking for a password of
other users, then offers a root login, and claims that the root
password may not be correct, and hangs in that loop. (So, I can't
enable any printers in XFCE 7.6.0 that has been updated; several
machine behave this way.)

I tried Settings->Session and Startup->Advanced, and checked both
Launch KDE and GNOME servises on startup, (hoping a keymanager was
necessary,) but to no avail.

Perhaps "gnome-keyring-daemon --start --components=pkcs11" in the
startup?

Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    John

BTW, many kudos to the developers/maintainers of Debian/XFCE; this was
the only issue encountered in some very complicated machines.
