Folks: Google has formally announced the list of accepted proposals. dho's done a nice news post on the subject at http://gsoc.cat-v.org/News/ with the details. All students who applied should be getting a yea/nay email from Google shortly, if you've not already.
I know it can be difficult, but I urge students to not think of this as pass/fail. We had a number of excellent applications and students we'd have liked to accept, but we have limited resources to devote to this program. I'd encourage everyone to think about contributing what you can regardless. For accepted students, the most important things to do now are talk to your mentors, get familiar with the community and resources available, and start thinking about any pre-work you'll need to do before the official coding period starts up. For other students, if you'd like feedback on your proposal, come by #plan9-gsoc over the next few days and ask me. I'm also happy to do private feedback if you prefer; stop by #plan9-gsoc to set it up. Unfortunately, for several of you the answer is "we just didn't have the slots or mentors", but I'm happy to provide what more feedback I can. Thanks to everyone who applied. We're looking forward to an excellent summer, and hope to see as many of you as possible remain active in the community through the summer and beyond.
