i really dislike such magical behaviours. it leads to situations where people scroll accidently over the icon and the screen changes brightness. many people won't put those two actions together in their mind (after all, it shows a battery, not a screen!). with the popup, it'll be an easy matter of click->move->scroll wheel. this is easy enough to do and much safer. it's not like you adjust the screen brightness constantly anyways, right? -- Aaron J.
