Thanks! According to the release schedule 4.8 has ended [1]. Already 4.8.5 was an uplanned release done due to problems with 4.8.4. I consider it as extremely unlikely that there will be yet another 4.8 release.
But it's still possible to just commit to the branch and packagers eventually will pull the patches and do another release. Personally I would not care anymore about it as it is extremely unlikely that distros will random cherry- pick patches for minor issues. All distributions shipping 4.8 have already released or are in the process of releasing and are very reluctant to change the packages. E.g. Debian Testing is currently at 4.8.4, the same with Ubuntu 12.04. On the other hand that might mean that the patch will be picked if they eventually bring 4.8.5 to their users. My advice would be to focus on 4.9. At KWin we stopped supporting 4.8 once 4.8.4 had been released. Cheers Martin [1] http://techbase.kde.org/Schedules/KDE4/4.8_Release_Schedule
