They know how to get started (fork, push branch, PR), then on the
discussion some additional constraints arise (only when necessary as some
contributions can be a single commit). So I think onboarding is simpler
because the challenge of adopting project-specific practices happens
further down the road, while the contributor has already invested effort
and produced value to the project without being slowed down very early by
learning the Gerrit way.
