The Direct Rendering option says "No" when I type in glxinfo. How do I change
it to 'Yes'? Thanks!

I think you need hardware acceleration for your graphic card.
you can run the command glxinfo to know if 3d hardware acceleration is on,
look if appears "direct rendering: yes" among the other info.

THE GLX ERROR!!! -Can my Intel Graphics card work?
2006-07-17 11:04

Please do not ignore this post because it appears to be similar to everyone
else's problem.
I seem to have a slightly different situation. I have put the actual output
results on the
bottom of this email. I am very new to Linux, so if you could please detail out
how to do
everything line by line (command by command in the terminal window) that would
be VERY much
appreciated.

I'm running Fedora Core 3 and have an Acer laptop which I believe has an intel
graphics
card.

Just like the many people in these forums, I have been getting the same two
errors when
running gazebo and wxgazebo (the full output is displayed at teh bottom of this
email).

My question is, can my laptop actually run gazebo, or do I just need to use a
different
computer? And if it is possible to run it on this laptop, then what exactly do
I need to do?
Step by step, command by command instructions would be VERY much appreciated as
I am very
new to Linux.

 -------------------Full Output------------
To run gazebo, I type: gazebo gazebo-0.5.2/worlds/example.world
 and: wxgazebo gazebo-0.5.2/worlds/example.world

I get the following output (like everyone else):

 With the 'gazebo' command:

 using display [:0.0]
X Error of failed request: GLXUnsupportedPrivateRequest
Major opcode of failed request: 143 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 16 (X_GLXVendorPrivate)
Serial number of failed request: 14
Current serial number in output stream: 16

 with the 'wxgazebo' command:

 Traceback (most recent call last):
   File "/usr/local/bin/wxgazebo", line 4, in ?
     from wxgazebo.main import main
 ImportError: No module named wxgazebo.main
