 Sorry, I forgot you also need to disable AIGLX and the Composite
extension, which are enabled by default in Ubuntu 7.10. You'll need to
edit your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and set the following:

Section "ServerFlags"
    Option  "AIGLX" "off"
EndSection

Section "Extensions"
    Option "Composite" "Disable"
EndSection
