Frank,
Here are my answers to some of your questions from the last couple of emails.
Please note that I do not currently have a Mac or easy access to one so my
answers are from memory and notes so it is hard for me to verify anything. I
recently completed installs on 2 different 10.4 machines (both PPC Power
books with ATI graphics).

I did not use that script.

According to my notes (before I got gdk2 running) the only packages I needed
to install from fink (all dependencies were handled) in order to get a
running gazebo install were:
fink selfupdate
install:
libxml2
glut
automake1.9
pkgconfig
proj

With this list pixbuf was not recognized but gazebo ran without ground
textures.

lib3ds is only required if you would like 3ds (3d studio max) skins to be
displayed over the more simplistic shaped bodies. See carchassis.world, the
jeep screenshots on the website are this skinned model.

This is the wxPython version that worked for me as well, IIRC I also saw the
installation errors and suffered no ill effects from them.

I mentioned needing a different wxPython version for one of the two systems.
Here are some details. The first system ran fine with (please ignore mangled
file names I'm trying to get the pertinent info from notes and memory)
wxPython2.8 mac10.4 unicode.dmg and the second system ran fine with
wxPython2.6 mac10.4 ansi.dmg (I do not know if the unicode to ansi made any
difference I was trying for as large a change as i could get). The errors
that caused me to try this were displayed in the Python status window (I do
not remember what they were). Gazebo did not crash but nothing was displayed.
I did not try any of the Python demos.

I did have a problem with the downloaded 2.8 images (2.6 also?), some error
about Daysinyear. The file (This path is incomplete)
site-pkg.../wx-2.8-mac-unicode/wxPython/_misc.py needed Daysinyear replaced
with DaysInYear. This might help some wxPython issues.

Setting DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH was causing some external libraries to stop working.
According to my notes "installing gtk+2 breaks wxPython" I believe that this
was later tracked down to the issue noted above. IE I had gazebo working
without ground textures until I installed gtk2 and then gazebo would crash.

You will need gdal whether it is available from fink or has to be installed by
hand I do not know, this was not a requirement of mine.

example.world is actually a fairly complex world you might start by trying
simplesolids.world

I did not need to alter any OpenGL settings or parameters.

Please note that while I was able to get everything running there was some
weirdness with the control windows not being able to be moved from the upper
left corner. The GUI cam window and the main gazebo simulation window could
be moved but the interface control windows got stacked in the upper left
corner. Just letting you know what I saw.

Hope something in here helps.
