Hello All, I grabbed the svn version of gazebo and did an scons install.
When doing a quick test: gazebo /usr/local/share/gazebo/worlds/pioneer2dx.world I get the following back and the gazebo window closes: Gazebo multi-robot simulator, version 0.8-pre1 Part of the Player/Stage Project [http://playerstage.sourceforge.net].
