Hi, I am trying to install gazebo on Ubuntu Hardy Heron. I installed player-stage from the Ubuntu repository (sudo apt-get install robot-player stage). Since, gazebo is not in the repository, I am trying to compile it from source. The prerequisites are given here: http://playerstage.sourceforge.net/doc/Gazebo-manual-0.8.0-pre1-html/prerequisites.html For scons, fltk and libxml2 it said a particular version or greater. Ubuntu repository had latest versions on these so I installed them from there. I download the source code for version 1.4.4 from here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=2997&package_id=2939 I downloaded the one that said "ogre-linux_osx-v1-4-4.tar.bz2". I extracted it and ran according the instructions: ./bootstrap and ./configure and got the following error: checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes checking for ZZIPLIB... configure: error: Package requirements (zziplib) were not met: No package 'zziplib' found Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix. Alternatively, you may set the environment variables ZZIPLIB_CFLAGS and ZZIPLIB_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details. I checked around here in the forum for similar errors and found out that for most people the pkgconfig is present in /usr/local/lib but for me its in /usr/lib. I checked the repository for zziplib and found zziplib-bin. So I installed that but it still gives me error. The instructions for gazebo installation is for the version 0.8pre. Should I install this or 0.7? Furthermore, is it ok to install player and stage from the repository directly or should they be built from source as well? I am relatively new to linux and new to playerstage gazebo too. I appreciate your help.
