I have succesfully compiled gazebo 0.10 on (k)ubuntu 9.10 and it works very
well.
First of all i used ogre from this repository ppa:thjc/ppa

Compiling player-3.0.1 and Stage-3.2.2 is painless in ubuntu, all dependecies
are in the standard repositories.

ode-0.11.1 is also simple to compile from source tar ball

i don't have managed to build bullet but gazebo work without it.
other gazebo dependecies are in the standard repositories.

You can also find usefull this page http://www.benamy.info/guides/gazebo-on-
ubuntu-quickstart

My gazeborc look like this:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<gazeborc>
  <gazeboPath>/usr/local/share/gazebo</gazeboPath>
  <ogrePath>/usr/lib/OGRE</ogrePath>
</gazeborc>

Bye
