I think you may find heavy resistance there, but wouldn't hurt
anyway. You can refrence wikipedia and archive.org as popular sites
that also support the OS cause. Many people will need to learn how
to convert to ogg, and their users will then want to know how to
play, and ultimately convert so it will work in their iPods and mp3
cd players, etc.

Hey everybody,
Another way to approach this would be to make a list of existing
humor audio/video sites and pitch them on supporting theora/html5.
Anyone game?

Here's a few sites I found if anybody wants to start converting.
Does anybody out there host a website that would be willing to set
up a "funny oggs" page? It would be great to provide a link in
the e-mail, so people can hear more at their will.

http://www.thebards.net/mp3/ (I listened to "DO VIRGINS TASTE
BETTER MEDLEY"). Probably no viral songs here, but still worth
sharing. Pretty good for a band that supports sharing. Oh, I
just stumbled upon "DONALD WHERE'S YOUR TROUSERS? MEDLEY". I
remember that from Dr Demento a few years back, before I moved.
This one is pretty silly, worth sharing too. Located here:

This is well said and basically what I was thinking... Except I
would pass it on as if it were the original ;)
Instead of the response "Why didn't you send it in X format? It's
more popular," I would expect something more like "It didn't
work, what was it?" or "how do I open this?".
You can say "Do you have (program of choice)? That's what my
computer opened it in." Or you can provide a link at the bottom
and say "I just installed the program in that link and then it
opened just fine..."

It would probably be more effective to find humorous comedy bits
online and e-mail them out to friends and family, after
converting it
to ogg. Then provide a link for windows and/or mac users to
download
an ogg player to hear it.
Exactly. In fact SOM has been advocating this for a year now:
