Do you think the FSF is likely to allow it?
My understanding is the FSF is ok with non-free firmware in audio
players and so is Richard Stallman.
Thank you. I didn't really realise that.
What is your estimation of okness?
* the FSF thinks that people who find proprietary software
acceptable will probably find non-free firmware in audio players
acceptable, too
* the FSF thinks that businesses are free to implement
non-free firmware in audio players
* the FSF thinks that some cases of non-free firmware
in audio players are ethically neutral
* the FSF will endorse non-free firmware in audio players
in specific cases
* the FSF will endorse non-free firmware in audio players
unconditionally
* the FSF would drive development of non-free firmware
in audio players
* the FSF will oppose any firmware in audio players
that is not non-free
The extreme cases are certainly unlikely, I wrote them down
to cover the spectrum completely.
And of course it would be great if the question was also answered
by someone from the FSF.
Kind regards,
Ineiev
