btw.. we should also think about (looking at) reworking some code to be
(more) platform independant.
ie. the plugins described in the config files contain ".so", maybe we
should drop the ".so" since that is related to the dynamic link library
system the OS supports - Resulting in the config files to become more
platform indepentant (assuming you have the plugins mentioned available
on "all" platforms).
