Hello Adrian,

I've just downloaded plex86 for the first try as well and I got exactly
the same messages as you. I'm guessing that, like me, you moved the
plex86.conf file from the conf directory into the user directory which is
where the plex86 program wanted it (although I then noticed I could have
used the -f command line option to point to the config file). I
uncommented the 2 load-rom lines (as I guessed we needed them :-) but I
wasn't too sure what plex86 would do without us actually pointing it at
an OS boot image! With the 2 load-rom lines in place plex86 got as far as
"Running VM" followed by "MemMapIOWriteRequest: not handled." before
ending. But, as I said, without pointing plex86 to an OS boot image in
the .conf file I don't think we can expect to get any further. So, for
fun, I downloaded the small FreeDOS disk image from
ftp://ftp.plex86.org/1.44_FreeDOS.mini and edited the freedos file in the
conf directory to point to it. Then I ran "plex86 -f freedos" and I
smiled broadly as a pretty little plex86 VM window popped up on my
screen. Unfortunately, FreeDOS didn't boot properly. It got as far as
saying "Loading FreeDOS..." followed by "ROOT FAT" and then went into a
loop. Oh well, better than the first attempts :-) I've tried booting a
QNX floppy as someone else on the list mentioned (with the same results,
although it was looking good for a while) and I've booted some RH
Installation Diskettes (I wonder what they would do if I told them to
actually carry on with the installation?-)
I'm going to see if I can download an image for one of the tiny linux
installations (tomsrtbt etc.) but I haven't got time right now.

Kevin/Drew etc.,
Could you tell me if my thinking above (as a newbie) is right so far.
Also have you got any smallish Linux images that you could load into the
FTP area please. Also(2), could you tell me when it might be possible to
actually install an OS under Plex86 rather than having to load an
existing image. Many thanks.

Cheers,
Sean
