Hi,
I read about plex86 on Slashdot, and I always try out new things (I don't
know why, but it entertains me :)
I downloaded the source from CVS a couple of days ago, and got freedos to
boot. Then I looked at the archives of this mailing list and saw Kevin say
that he'd created the win95 disk image using bochs, so I downloaded the bochs
code and managed to follow all the instructions to get win95 running under
that - that was exciting :) I'd never tried VMware or any other pc emulators
because they weren't free, but now I see how powerful the idea is.
So, I've tried using plex86 on the disk image that works with bochs, but it
just seems to hang. I'm not sure whether I need a special conf file (I just
tried pointing one of the others at the disk image). Could someone maybe
email me a file that works?
Also, how much better will plex86 run than bochs? Is it better already? The
only thing I didn't like about the way bochs ran win95 was that if I enabled
my mouse it slowed down so much, but I couldn't really do much without it. Is
plex86 going to alleviate this problem? And how long will it be before this
project is stable enough for end users? Will it be integrated with Mandrake?
I'm definitely a Mandrake fan, myself. I don't use anything else :)
I think, since you publicised the project on Slashdot, it would be helpful
for there to be a bit more information on your website. The answers to the
above questions would be a good start.
