The open files should be reopened by the approprate plugins.  The hard part
is the rest of the IO device's state, that isn't controlled by the core.  I
have no idea what you mean by "timing framework", and I'd be interested in
knowning what the "other info" is.

OTOH, you're absolutely right.  Unfornatly, I was looking for somthing that
was interesting and within my abilities, which aren't all too hot.

I'd love to.  Would the person in question please step up?  I can't find
your work on the [EMAIL PROTECTED] ML archive, and I don't know where else
to look -- when I got started in this project, the address had already moved.
