BIOS

Graphics-mode apps that aren't using the BIOS (and maybe even some that do
use the BIOS) will pop up a message saying 'This application can only run in
full-screen mode' or words to that effect, and then Windows releases the
graphics card leaving the app happily writing directly to the screen.
I think it will intercept writes to B8000h, although I've never tried B0000h
(MDA, isn't it?).
