I'm using 20 and 30 gigglebyte disks. I've never used linear, but I am using
lba32 in the prelude to /etc/lilo.conf
boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
prompt
timeout=50
VGA=0x305
lba32
default=new
root=/dev/hda1
image=/boot/vmlinuz
label=new
etc
This DOES require a BIOS with the LBA extensions; one easy way to find out if
yours does is try it.
Possibly you will need a newer lilo too.
