It seems that what I need is clone mode, and that I will need the ATi 
drivers for that.  Last time I looked there was no driver available for 
the X600, but apparently a new version has come out since then that is 
supposed to support the X600 and include clone mode.  I'll try 
installing that.

For the sake of the archives I'll report back, but it may be a day or 
two.
