Not much really. It seems to be really difficult to even get consensus among contributors (working on similar packages for different distributions --> PLF / ATRPMS, etc) to agree on standardizing. As distributions evolve and solve their issues in their own ways, these "solutions" don't often make it into other distributions. It's really sad, because resources are scarce, and at the end of the day a lot of people end up doing the same work (to get software packaged for different distributions). In that respect a lot is wasted.Hi!Two years ago, you wrote in: http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-legacy-list/2004-March/msg00093.html" I'm also involved with plf (plf.zarb.org <http://plf.zarb.org>) and the plf would also love to make fedora packages. Issue at the moment is that the lack of standardisation is making this difficult."I wonder... has there been any progress?
After a LOT of searching, I have setled on Blag Linux (www.blagblagblag.org <http://www.blagblagblag.org>), it's an UK distro, based on Fedora Core 3. And so far, I love it. But they hate proprietary software, so things like Flash and Java (J2SE) are left out.I guess the answer from the PLF folks is going to be: a PLF repository for FC is possible, but we're not going to build the packages. We'll be more than happy to facilitate with proving access to the PLF site, etc (infrastructure), but you'll need to build and upload the packages yourself.I'd love having a PLF repository which hosts Fedora Core (FC3 if possible ;-) packages.
I think the same is also being done for the ubuntu PLF repository.
Any place where I could do a little pushing for this?.You could subscribe to the PLF mailinglist (http://plf.zarb.org/contact.php) and ask there.
Any of the PLF guys run Fedora?
I don't know of any of the PLF people running Fedora.

Interesting.Perhaps you could write an article about the insanity in software packaging? Not only with respect to the OpenSource world, but I guess the way this is done in the closed-source world is even worse. Every major company I've been in touch with basically does their own software packaging (or outsources it).
