Dear PLF,
Sorry to post this here - I tried to add it to bugzilla, but bugzilla
doesn't have a product for libfreetype6 (or anything similar, as far as
I can tell!).
Anyway, installing the PLF's libfreetype6 makes the fonts look horrible.
At a guess, it seems not to be using the bytecode interpreter - the
result is very very ugly.
Here's what I did:
1)Installed the latest RC, the Live CD of 2007, Sunna.
2)Downloaded the cooker package of libfreetype6 from the PLF.
3)Removed the mdk rpm (rpm -e --nodeps), and installed the plf version.
4)Installed the microsoft corefonts, switched KDE over to using them,
switched Antialiasing OFF in KDE (except for >14pt).
5)Restarted the dm service (no luck - gruesome fonts); rebooted to be
sure (still horrid!)
I've been doing this for about 3 years on various installs, so I don't
think I've made an error here. However, if anyone can correct me, I'd be
delighted.
Best wishes,
Richard
P.S. I'm not on this list, so please CC me if you need a reply.
