For the record, this was done for two reasons:
1) Avoiding code duplication.
2) Newer ffmpeg code and thus better format support. Confirmed examples are
h.264 PAFF (used in DVB broadcasts) decoding and multithreaded h.264 decoding.
These excessive dependencies are quite an irritating side-effect, but I don't
see what we could do :/
