--- Comment #7 from Anshul <[email protected]> 2009-11-16 03:35:55 CET --- Allright, I managed to get subpixel hinting going for 2010.0. I avoided the Ubuntu patches and went for the easier to patch, LCD patches which, presumably come from upstream. I've used the patches from Arch's AUR for cairo, libxft and fontconfig to successfully create SRPMS and it works with the same effect as those for Ubuntu patches. The cairo patch comes from a previous patch that I had submitted for 2009.1, but was never updated for 2010.0. I've recompiled the 2010.0 cairo SRPM with the build_plf flag set. The fontconfig patch contains a small change, addition of a 10-lcd-filter.conf file in /etc/fonts/conf.avail. This enables subpixel hinting for all apps using GTK+, after applying the cairo RPM from above. However, it may also require a small modification in the ~/.Xresources file in the user's home directory with the following string:- "Xft.lcdfilter: lcddefault" The libxft patch comes from AUR at http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=8112. I had problems in getting the MDV patches applied for the libxft source. So, I had to disable the MDV patches and enable the subpixel patch. It then compiled successfully. This will enable subpixel hinting for all apps using the Xft filter like Opera. I'll attach the SRPMS and hope that PLF evaluates these and accepts them for possible inclusion. I'm willing to be the maintainer these RPMS going forward. -- Configure bugmail: https://plf.zarb.org/bugzilla/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes. _______________________________________________ PLF-discuss mailing list [email protected] https://www.zarb.org/mailman/listinfo/plf-discuss
