Hi Giacomo,
after solving the issue below by reinstalling Diazo I tried to install
one of your themes via buildout to study it.
I got the following errer after running buildout -v with
plonetheme.discovery 1.1.linux-i686.tar.gz
and
plonetheme.leavesdew-1.2.linux-i686.tar.gz
as well

'plonetheme.discovery'.
Getting distribution for 'plonetheme.discovery'.
Running easy_install:

Not sure why.
I did not found a tracker for your themes working well via ZIP Import
so I put the issue here.

That's not a doctype, it's an "XML declaration". A doctype begins
"<!DOCTYPE.." and would come after the optional XML declaration in an
XML document. Diazo does not require either for the rules.xml file.
