Objects get indexed automatically when added to the catalog; there is
no need to rebuild the entire index.

There are settings on the Solr control panel in Plone to control how
the incremental indexing takes place; you can commit immediately or
not, for example, with a configurable time within which Solr should
commit updates for you if you don't commit immediately.. There is also
the option to index asynchronously.
