collective.cover 1.0a2 has been released today including many bug fixes and some enhancements; quick resume:

* layout design is fixed; you can drag&drop rows, columns and tiles and resize columns without any problems; known limitation: you can't have nested layouts (rows inside columns)
* all tiles were fixed
* carousel tile is now using Galleria responsive JavaScript image gallery framework; it supports many content types directly, including folderish ones
* collective.cover is Plone 4.3 and Dexterity 2.0 compatible

continuous integration tests are running on Travis for Plone versions 4.2 and 4.3:

just a quick reminder and that's why I'm copying Jonas here (I read your question but I'm not subscribed to the users list):

collective.cover was created to solve the problem of having elaborate covers for Plone sites; it's currently installed in 4 sites (the first one, deployed August last year) and we're working on 5+ projects right now.

Deco is a layout framework and we are committed to make it a reality but, at the same time, we need to deploy our projects the sooner, the better. Deco Lite was first discussed during Plone Conference 2011 and it didn't solve all the use cases that we visualized when decided to create collective.cover.

I'll be very happy on killing collective.cover some day but seems to me that day is not near.

on release 1.03 we are going to start working on migrating collective.cover custom tiles to Plone standard tiles as a first step on removing code from it and start using more and more code from Deco itself.

this, and many other UI enhancements, are going to come true thanks to a sponsorship:

plone.app.toolbar could be the next move.

please, Nathan and Rok, keep us informed on what's going on the development of Deco so we can plan refactoring and help you in some way.

André is going to record a video showing the main features of collective.cover soon; in the mean time you can see a small video, from one month ago, on how easy is to edit the cover of this site:
