I "solved" the problem - I deleted all of plone under /usr/local and
then did a reinstall as a standalone. The reinstall was successful and
I can now create a Plone site.

Hi,
I tried running
>sudo /usr/local/Plone/zinstance/bin/buildout -v init
But I get the error:
While:
Initializing.
Getting section versions.
Error: The referenced section, 'versions', was not defined
Any help at this point is appreciated.
