Steve,

I was logged in as root doing the install, not running a with sudo and the
installation directory structure was all world readable. This is a simulated
production install to evaluate if this product will suit our purposes so I
wanted to install the same way I would for a production environment. I would
still like to do that but to at least do some initial evaluation I have
installed as a non-priveledged user which seems to have worked.

When will the next version be out that fixes the root installation problems?

Steve

denied

The 4.3 installer has a bug when doing a sudo install from a private directory.
The problem is that it drops privileges and then can no longer read the
installer files it needs. This is fixed for the next release. Until then,
unpack the installer to a world-readable directory, then run the installer.

And, don't use sudo for installs unless it's for production. It's not needed or
desirable for development/evaluation installs.

I have been trying to install Plone 4.3 on Ubuntu Server - (fully upgraded
and updated) and I'm getting a permission denied error in the log:

Detailed installation log

/usr/local/Plone/Python-2.7/bin/python: can't open file
'/root/Plone-4.3-UnifiedInstaller/helper_scripts/create_instance.py': [Errno

I've opened up permissions that I suspected could have caused a problem but
nothing seems to work and there isn't enough detail to be sure where the
permission problem really exists.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Steve
