Hi Hazen: I am glad to hear that the java installed examples test and my second try at the 2^n fix both work for you. You should be able to get the java examples to work by hand by following what is done in plplot-test.sh and test_java.sh.
That leaves the Tcl/Tk issue. Koen, will you comment on Tcl/Tk under our ABS and CBS please? It also leaves the Octave issue for which I have one important question below.
