Hi Jonathan: No, my tests were done with the current svn trunk that has Werner's commit that had similar but not identical ideas to your patch. See http://plplot.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/plplot/trunk/ to browse the current trunk version and follow the directions at http://sourceforge.net/svn/?group_id=2915 to download the whole trunk version. Finally, to see exactly what Werner's commit did, look at the archive of the plplot_cvs mailing list (a misnomer, but SF would not let us rename that mailing list when we moved from cvs to svn).
