I have just added an rsvg bug report for Debian
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=502502) and added to the
existing but so-far ignored (since March 2008) bug report about text
positioning for librsvg itself at
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=525023.

Before being directed to the latter bug report by the Debian maintainer I
had no idea that librsvg was part of GNOME. I am not too happy that such a
well-known desktop project has let this fundamental SVG text positioning
issue slide for all these months, but my impression is GNOME is not yet as
sensitive to SVG issues as KDE; KDE4 is adopting SVG for all their icons,
but I don't think GNOME is at that stage yet. Hopefully my add-on comment
will wake up the GNOME developers a bit.
