I notice that the pyqt4 bindings check for the presence of sip and disable the bindings if this is missing. On my Ubuntu systems with sip install this causes a compile error because I don't have the python-qt4-dev packages installed. It seems QtCore/QtCoremod.sip is missing. These binary packages come from different source packages. I don't know if other systems have this problem, but it might be worth a more thorough cmake check.
