Hi Hazen: Here is some extra relevant information I discovered this morning. examples/python/test_superscript_subscript.py -dev qtwidget works perfectly! Although I don't recognize anything relevant in Alban's patch that Andrew committed, it appears that some change he did solved all the superscript/subscript issues that appeared before. The same example works OK for -dev psc and -dev psttfc and works (with regard to font size issues and vertical offsets, but not horizontal offsets which generally have issues for this device in any case) for -dev wxwidgets (wxGC). Thus, the only cases I am aware of where this example doesn't have correct font scaling or vertical offsets are pdf (font scaling) and cairo (vertical offsets).
